Why is it so hard to get abs?
There is nothing like doing numerous ab workouts, amarite?
No.
However,
that was me struggling. After seven million crunches and
scouring the internet for "best ways to get abs" I wasn't making any
progress. If you find yourself resonating with the last sentence, here is some solace:
1. I’m
not genetically gifted (thanks mum and dad)
I'm not saying it’s impossible
for people to get stomach definition, but for some people it is harder. It’s
science. People find it easy to gain muscle in certain places and lose fat in
certain areas, which can be frustrating. This is due to metabolism, your
body’s ability to repair muscles, and largely hormones which control where and
how quickly fat disappears.
2. I'm a
woman
Naturally,
women hold body fat in their abdominal area, it's just how we are made up.
Women are also susceptible to hormones which promote the storage of belly
fat compared to men.
3. Body fat percentage
No matter how
many ab workouts you do it won’t affect your appearance unless you shed body
fat. The saying “abs are made in the kitchen” is so very true.
If you
are like me, fighting a battle for a toned
stomach, don't worry.
Getting
stomach definition for some people is a test of determination; but patience is a virtue and with the
right diet and exercise it can be achieved.
I
recommend body weight and resistance ab isolated exercises before your workout to
get your core properly engaged. Focus on your core in every exercise, example
squeezing your abs while doing squats and deadlifts. While doing 2/3 HIIT
workouts a week and most importantly maintaining a healthy diet (which is
easier said than done at times).
Don't give up, there is a beach
body shaped light at the end of this tunnel, thanks for reading again xxx
